Is the BLK dating app free?
Yes, for the basics. You can swipe, match and message your matches without paying, and Communities, Events and one Gem a week are free too. The free version shows ads and caps your likes, and for most members, seeing who liked you needs a paid tier. BLK said in late 2025 that it was testing free access to your likes with some members, so look at your Likes tab before you buy.
What Premium, Elite and Platinum add
BLK sells three subscriptions, and each one includes the tier below it.
- Premium removes the ads and the like cap, adds unlimited rewinds of your last swipe, and gives you five Super Likes a week and one Boost a month.
- Elite adds See Who Likes You and lets you sort your likes by Your Type, Last Active or Nearby.
- Platinum adds read receipts and Priority Likes, which put your like near the top of someone’s stack for 48 hours. With it you can also filter for members who were active in the past 24 hours, joined in the past week or have a subscription, one filter at a time.
How much BLK costs
The price depends on the tier, the package length and where you buy. Every tier comes in packages of 1 week, 1 month, 3 months or 6 months. BLK’s App Store listing says subscriptions start at $9.99, and in the US App Store, Elite cost $17.99 to $19.99 for a week and $19.99 to $29.99 for a month when we checked on October 3, 2026. Platinum’s price is shown in the app. Prices vary by country and can change, so check the subscription screen before you pay.
Is BLK Premium worth it?
Start free for a week or two. If you keep hitting the like cap, Premium is the cheapest fix. Elite is worth it mainly for seeing who liked you, so skip it if your Likes tab already shows them. Platinum’s filters help most in big cities, where there are enough new and recently active members to filter.
Boosts, Super Likes and Gems
You can also buy extras without a subscription:
- Boosts put you among the top six profiles people see for 30 minutes. A single Boost cost $2.99 to $3.99 in the US App Store, and packs of 5 or 10 expire after 90 days and can’t be refunded.
- Super Likes come in packs of 5, 25 or 60; five cost $4.99 in the US App Store.
- Gems come in packs of 3, 15 or 30 and let you message someone from Spotlight before you match.
How not to overpay
- Start with a short package. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancel where you paid. On iPhone, go to Settings → your name → Subscriptions; in BLK, tap your profile icon, then the gear icon, then Manage Subscription.
- Use the free monthly Boost that comes with a subscription before you buy more.
- Skip promo code sites. We found no official BLK promo codes, and prices show on the subscription screen in the app.

How do I cancel my BLK subscription?
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel in your phone’s subscription settings. If you paid on the website, cancel in your BLK account settings. Deleting your BLK account doesn’t cancel a subscription. Turn off auto-renewal in the App Store, Google Play or BLK’s Manage Subscription screen before the renewal date; you keep paid features until the period ends.
