How eHarmony works
Most eHarmony reviews agree on the basics, and they still hold in 2026: it’s a dating site for people who want a long-term relationship, and it matches you on personality rather than photos. Psychologist Neil Clark Warren started it in 2000 as one of the first algorithm-based dating sites. Since 2018 it has belonged to Germany’s Parship group, now ParshipMeet Group, so it isn’t part of Match Group.
Everyone starts with the Compatibility Quiz. Your answers drive your matches, and every profile shows a compatibility score between 60 and 140. eharmony calls 100 a good average and 110 or more a high level of compatibility. Each profile also has a Compatibility section showing where you’re alike and where you might clash.
Your matches appear in Discover, where you see every member who fits your preferences, and new people join daily. You show interest with a Like, a Smile or one of the ready-made Icebreakers. Basic members can send a first message, but a real back-and-forth conversation needs Premium. So does seeing photos, which stay blurred until you pay.
Who you’ll meet on eHarmony
You must be 18 or over. eharmony doesn’t publish an age breakdown, but its members tend to be older than on swipe apps and it’s a popular choice for people over 50. You can look for men, women, nonbinary people or everyone, and eharmony worked with GLAAD on its matching and sign-up.
Is eHarmony a Christian dating site? No. It says it has no religious affiliation and that no faith dominates its membership, although some Premium tiers let you filter by faith. It runs separate sites for the US, the UK, Canada and Australia.
Is eHarmony legit and worth it?
It’s legit: a company running since 2000, with a Trust & Safety team that combines automated checks with human review, and a 4.1 rating from more than 49,000 ratings in the US App Store (checked October 16, 2026). Fake profiles still turn up, as on every dating site, so report anyone who asks for money.
Whether it’s worth it depends on how you date. If you want someone to do the sorting and you’ll give it several months, eharmony’s quiz and scores save time. If you like browsing lots of profiles, or you want to pay month to month, it’s a poor fit, because there’s no one-month plan.
