What each dating site review covers

Every site has a full review plus four shorter guides, so you can go straight to the question you have.

  • The review explains how the site works day to day, who it suits and who it doesn’t, with pros and cons.
  • The pricing page lists each plan, what it adds and whether upgrading is worth it.
  • The free trial page covers what you can do without paying and how to avoid unwanted renewals.
  • The alternatives page groups similar sites by the reason people leave.
  • The delete account guide walks you through removing your profile and stopping payments.

Each site also gets a score out of 5 in five areas: match quality, features, value for money, safety and ease of use. The overall rating on the cards is the average of those five. Prices vary by country and change often, so every review shows when it was last updated. More on how we review dating sites.

How to tell if a dating site is legit

Most big names are real businesses, but some sites exist mainly to sell message credits. Before you sign up anywhere, check these five things.

  1. Who runs it. A legitimate site names the company behind it, has a real app in the App Store or Google Play and a help center you can read before joining.
  2. How pricing works. You should see plan prices and renewal terms before you pay. Be careful with sites where every message costs credits.
  3. What happens right after sign-up. A flood of flirty messages before you’ve even added a photo is a common warning sign of fake or paid “members”.
  4. How you cancel. Look for clear cancellation steps. If you pay through Apple or Google, you cancel there, not on the site.
  5. What users complain about. Search the site’s name with “billing” or “fake profiles” and read the complaints, not only the star rating.

On any site, someone who asks for money, gift cards or crypto is a scammer, however genuine they seem. Our romance scam guide covers the warning signs.

Frequently asked questions

Which dating site has the best reviews?

It depends on what you want. Hinge has our highest overall score, followed by eHarmony and Muzz. If you belong to a specific group, such as over 50s, LGBTQ+ singles or people of faith, our rankings by audience are a better guide than one overall score.

Are dating sites legit or scams?

The sites we review are established services with real apps, clear terms and help centers. Most scams on dating sites come from individual fake profiles, not from the site itself, so the checks above still matter. Never send money to someone you haven’t met in person.

Do dating sites pay you for reviews?

No site pays to be reviewed or to get a better score. Some links earn us a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you. Scores and rankings are set before any of that. See how we review dating sites.
