Mutual is the largest dating app for members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and in Utah and much of the western US it is simply where young single members are. It works like a mainstream swipe app — swipe up on people you like, match when it is mutual — but the community shares standards, vocabulary and plans that mainstream apps do not.

What to keep in mind: outside the western US the pool is much thinner, and the audience skews young, so members in their forties and older may find fewer peers. The swipe format also makes some people feel the app is less serious than they are.
