Step 1: Cancel your subscription
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Mutual → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Mutual → Cancel.
- Website: Mutual account settings → subscription / billing.
Step 2: Delete your Mutual account
- Cancel Premium in the App Store or Google Play first.
- Tap the person icon (Account) at the bottom right.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Delete My Account and confirm.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check Mutual’s help centre.
Deleting your Mutual account
Before deleting, deal with any Premium subscription — Mutual cannot cancel store subscriptions for you.
Step 1: cancel Premium
Cancel in the App Store (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Payments & subscriptions). Mutual's help centre warns that deleting your account does not cancel Premium, and neither does deleting the app from your phone.
Step 2: delete the account
- Open Mutual and tap the person icon (Account) at the bottom right.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Delete My Account and confirm.
Pausing instead
If you have started dating someone and want to see where it goes, you do not have to delete. Stop using the app, turn off notifications, or adjust your visibility, and your profile, matches and messages will still be there if you return.
Before you delete
- Swap numbers or social handles with anyone you want to keep in touch with — messages disappear with the account.
- Remember that deleting the app alone leaves your account and profile in place; only the in-app deletion removes them.
- If you think you might come back in a few months, a pause is usually simpler than rebuilding your profile and matches from scratch.
