How The League dating app works

The League is a selective app for people who want a long-term relationship, and it’s part of Match Group. It’s only on iPhone and Android. Instead of an endless feed, you get a small daily Batch of profiles at 5pm local time, which it calls Happy Hour. Vote on all of them to unlock a full Batch the next day (The League). If you both like each other, you match and can chat.

Matches expire after 14 days without a conversation, though you can rematch from the Expired tab. The League also keeps a flakiness score. If you like everyone but never message, it says you’ll be pushed down in matching and may eventually be removed (The League FAQ).

How to get into The League

Everyone starts on the waitlist. You complete your profile, verify yourself and wait while current members review applications. The wait can run from a few hours to a few weeks or more (The League). It depends on your profile, how narrow your preferences are and the local gender and age balance. Six photos make approval twice as likely, The League says. An Endorsement or Golden Ticket from a member moves you up, and buying the Unlimited tier skips the wait.

LinkedIn is the preferred way to verify your career and education, and The League tries to hide you from coworkers if you use it. It doesn’t see your LinkedIn password, and your contacts aren’t told. If you’d rather not, you can verify with a work email, an .edu address or Doximity.

Who you’ll meet

The League says over half its members went to top-40 colleges, 30% have advanced degrees and a quarter are at executive or director level. Those are its own numbers. Most members are in big cities. The US is its main market, and it says it has an established presence in India, the UK, Western Europe, Canada and Dubai. You can download it elsewhere, but you’ll find far fewer people. Is The League legit and worth it?

It’s a real service with a long history, and the review and verification steps screen out many fakes, though no check is perfect. The iPhone app has 4.2 out of 5 from about 56,000 ratings in the US App Store. Android users are far less happy, at 2.7 from about 6,900 reviews on Google Play (checked November 1, 2026).

It’s worth it if you live in a big city, value a career-minded crowd and like having few choices a day. It isn’t worth it if you’re outside a major metro, because your Batch can be very small, or if you dislike the idea of being judged by other members to get in.
