Our verdict
EliteSingles closed on April 30, 2026, when its owner Spark Networks was in financial trouble, and was relaunched by September 2026 under SuccessfulMatch.com with a new member database. It still targets educated, relationship-minded singles, with profile review, photo verification and voice calls.
Bottom line: Worth a look if you want a serious, professional-leaning site, but treat it as a new service: the old membership didn’t come back with the name.
Great for: Busy professionals who want something serious
Not ideal for: Anyone under 20, people looking for something casual, or anyone who wants a big pool right away.
What happened to EliteSingles
Any EliteSingles review written before 2026 describes a different company. Spark Networks, which ran EliteSingles along with Zoosk, SilverSingles and Christian Mingle, entered insolvency proceedings in Germany early in 2026. On April 28 it emailed members that EliteSingles would close, and the site shut down on April 30, deleting profiles, matches and conversations (Global Dating Insights).
The name came back a few months later. SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc., the company that now also runs SilverSingles, took over the EliteSingles domain and relaunched it with a new design and an independent member database (Global Dating Insights). Old logins and old subscriptions didn’t carry over. So if you’re asking whether EliteSingles has closed: the old one did, and the current one is a new service under a familiar name. It isn’t owned by Match Group.
How the new EliteSingles works
You sign up with an email address, agree to the terms and build a profile. You must be at least 20. A review team checks new profiles and photos before they go live, which usually takes up to 24 hours and sometimes 48. A selfie video then verifies that you match your photos. The personality questionnaire that EliteSingles was known for is still part of matching.
From there you get match suggestions and can filter and sort the people you see, for example by recent activity or distance. You can like profiles, send winks and messages, and move to a voice call inside the site before you share a number. The same account works on the website and on the iPhone and Android apps. EliteSingles doesn’t publish which of these features are free and which need Premium, so check inside your account before you rely on any of them.
Who you’ll meet
EliteSingles still aims at educated, career-focused singles who want a long-term relationship, and says 85% of its members are highly educated. That’s its own figure, and it describes a member base rebuilt from scratch in 2026, so expect fewer people than the old site had. You don’t need a degree to join. LGBTQ+ singles are welcome, and sugar-dating or other financial arrangements are banned. The iPhone app is listed in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand App Stores.
Is EliteSingles legit and worth it?
It’s a real, working service with profile review and photo verification, and the US iPhone app has a 4.0 rating from 260 ratings (checked October 27, 2026). Photo verification doesn’t check income, job or background, and EliteSingles says it runs no background checks, so the usual caution applies. Whether it’s worth paying depends on how many active members you find near you, which is the open question for any relaunched brand.
We rate it 3.5 out of 5 for now, down from 4.0 for the old site. Safety and ease of use hold up well, but the member base was rebuilt from scratch in 2026, EliteSingles doesn’t say what free members can do, and a month of Premium costs more than most rivals. We’ll look again as the membership grows.
EliteSingles vs eHarmony and The League
eHarmony is the bigger, longer-running choice for compatibility matching; see EliteSingles vs eHarmony. The League also targets ambitious professionals, with a screening step to get in; see EliteSingles vs The League.
Our tip
Treat EliteSingles as a new site. Build your profile, wait for it to be approved, and look at how many verified, recently active members match your filters before you buy anything. If the answer is a handful, keep a larger serious site running alongside it.
