Bottom line: Worth it if you live in London or another big city and want a vetted crowd. Hinge gives you more people for free.

What Inner Circle is
This Inner Circle review covers a curated dating app for people with busy, ambitious lives, and it’s been running since 2014. It’s owned by Circle Imperium B.V. in the Netherlands. You can use it in the iPhone and Android apps, and some features on the website. Its help center says it has about 500,000 active users, a far smaller pool than the mainstream apps. You must be at least 20 to join (Inner Circle).
How the screening works
You apply in the app with an Apple ID, a Google login or a phone number, and complete a face verification check. The membership team then reviews your application (Inner Circle). Inner Circle says plainly that not everyone is accepted, and it looks for people who share a lifestyle and “move in the same circles”. If you’d rather not be judged on that, this isn’t the app for you. Inner Circle isn’t only for straight people: you can set your own relationship preferences.
How Inner Circle works
Once you’re in, you can like, message and match as on any other app, though two things are different. You can filter by age, height, location, education, smoking and children, with more on Full Membership. You can also share your favorite bars and restaurants, date ideas and travel plans.
And conversations are limited. Free members have one active conversation at a time, and Full Members have five. Everything else waits in a message queue, so you have to finish or close a conversation before starting another (Inner Circle). Inner Circle says that’s to improve conversation quality, and also that typing just “hey” as a first message gets swapped for a pick-up line, which you may or may not find charming.
Events
Inner Circle also runs members-only events, which it describes as parties where everyone happens to be single. Look under Discover → Events in the app. Tickets are sold there, and availability depends on your city.
What’s free
Standard membership is free and includes invitations to events. It’s limited, though: Inner Circle’s listing says you can earn features such as messaging by inviting friends, or pay. Inviting two friends unlocks five active conversations. See what Inner Circle costs.
Who you’ll meet
Mostly city professionals in their twenties, thirties and forties, particularly in London and other European cities. Is Inner Circle legit?
Yes. The iPhone app has 4.3 out of 5 from about 10,000 ratings in the US App Store (checked November 1, 2026). Reviewing every application and checking faces removes many fakes, but it doesn’t tell you who someone really is, so meet in public, and report anyone who asks for money.
