Great for: Muslims looking for marriage
Not ideal for: People looking for casual dating.
What Muzz is
This Muzz review covers the app you may remember as Muzmatch. Muzz calls itself the world’s biggest Muslim marriage app, and says it’s Muslim-owned, with 20 million members and more than a million marriages. Those are its own figures. It’s an app for iPhone and Android. Run by MUZZ LTD since 2015, it now also has a separate social app called Jamaa.
How Muzz works
When you sign up, you answer two Marriage Intentions questions: how long you’d like to know someone before marriage, and when you’d like to be married (Muzz). You also have to take a selfie, which is compared with your profile photo. Then you browse profiles that fit your filters, such as age, sect and location, and like the ones you’re interested in. If they like you back, you can chat, and voice and video calls are available too.
Two limits shape how you use it. You get a set number of likes per 12 hours, topped up twice a day. And you can have only five active conversations at once, or ten with Gold. When those are full, you can’t browse for new people until you unmatch someone. Muzz says this is to cut down on ghosting (Muzz).
Privacy and the chaperone option
Muzz is built with modesty in mind. You can keep your photos blurred until you’re ready to share them, and Muzz blocks screenshots of profiles. With Chaperone mode, you give your wali’s email address, and Muzz sends them weekly transcripts of your chats (Muzz). You don’t have to use it, but few other apps offer anything like it. Optional ID verification adds a blue badge.
What’s free on Muzz
Muzz says it will always let members match and chat for free (Muzz). You also get one free Compliment a month, which lets you send a message before you match. What you pay for is more of everything: more likes, more chats, more Compliments, more filters. See what Muzz Gold costs.
Who you’ll meet
Muslim singles from around the world who want marriage, including Sunni and Shia members and people from Arab, South Asian and European backgrounds. It isn’t a casual dating app, and your filters can include how practicing someone is, though the most detailed filters need Gold. Our Muslim dating sites ranking compares your options.
Is Muzz legit and safe?
Yes. It’s one of the best-rated apps we cover: 4.5 out of 5 from about 55,000 ratings in the US App Store and 4.4 from about 354,000 reviews on Google Play (checked November 1, 2026). Selfie checks make fakes harder to set up, but they don’t make them impossible. If someone asks for money or rushes you toward marriage, report them, and read our romance scam guide.
Muzz vs Hinge and Salams
Hinge has a far bigger general pool, but no chaperone or photo blur; see Muzz vs Hinge. Salams is another Muslim marriage app; see Salams vs Muzz.
Our tip
Don’t fill your five chat slots with people you’re unsure about. Chat with someone until you know whether it’s going anywhere, then unmatch politely if it isn’t, because a full list stops you from browsing. If your family is involved, set up Chaperone mode early, so it’s simply part of how you get to know someone.
