What Salams is, and who owns it
This Salams review covers a Muslim app for marriage and friendship. It began in the US in 2015 as Minder, and it joined Match Group in 2023, the company behind Tinder and Hinge (Salams). On the App Store it’s listed under Affinity Apps, LLC. It’s on iPhone and Android, and you must be 18 or over.
It has two sides: Salams Love for marriage, and Salams Friends for friendship and networking. The site claims 3.8 million users and 100,000 marriages, while the App Store listing says over 6 million members. We can’t verify those figures.
How the Salams app works
You swipe right if you’re interested and left if you’re not. Swipes are anonymous, and you can chat only when you’ve both swiped right. Profiles can show a person’s sect, education, career, height and prayer level, which gives you plenty to go on.
A daily Spotlight also shows you eight popular profiles. Sending one a Gem lets you write a message before you match, and you get one free Gem a week (Salams). The app also has a screenshot stopper for private conversations.
Who’s it for
The listing welcomes Sunni, Shia, Ahmadi, Ibadi and Bohra members, reverts, and people who are “just interested in meeting Muslims”. So someone’s practice and intentions are something you’ll want to ask about early. It mentions wali involvement and speaking to family, but we found no dedicated chaperone feature in its help center. If that matters, Muzz has one.

You can swipe, match and message for free. The listing promises unlimited messages and matches, though you can run out of swipes each day. Gold removes that limit. See what Salams costs.
A privacy setting to check
Salams belongs to Match Group, and its help center describes Expanded Discovery & Interaction. Where it’s offered, this can show your profile on other Match Group services, not only on Salams. If you’d rather keep your profile within a Muslim app, go to Settings → Your Privacy Choices → Match Group Data Sharing, and turn it off (Salams). Check this as soon as you join.
Is Salams legit and safe?
Yes. It has 4.4 out of 5 from about 49,000 ratings in the US App Store and 4.1 from about 29,000 on Google Play (checked November 1, 2026). Salams now uses Face Check, a video selfie that estimates your age and compares your face with your photos, and it gives you a Photo Verified badge. Note that this involves biometric data, so read its FAQ if that concerns you.
