What Stitch is
This Stitch review covers a community for adults over 50, run by Stitch Holdings Pty Ltd. Stitch doesn’t call itself a dating site. It’s about companionship, which it says covers “friends, marriage, and everything in between” (Stitch). Some members want a partner, while others want someone to go ballroom dancing with or to share a room on a trip. You must be over 50 to join.
Stitch even welcomes married and partnered people who want a non-romantic activity partner. So don’t assume that everyone you meet is single. Ask.
How Stitch works
There are three main parts. Community covers local and virtual activities, groups such as a book club or hiking group, and discussion forums. Members lets you browse profiles and connect one-on-one. Messages holds your private conversations (Stitch).
Much of it is run by members themselves, who suggest and host activities. Stitch Travel, currently in beta, lets you join group trips through travel partners. You can use Stitch on the web and in iPhone and Android apps. It’s in English only, and you can’t choose a plan in the iPhone app.
Where Stitch is active
Its largest communities are in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand, and members attended activities in over 85 countries in the past year (Stitch). It says more than 400,000 people have found connection on Stitch. Activity still comes down to your own area. If nobody’s running anything nearby, you can suggest an activity yourself.
What’s free
Limited membership is free forever. You can go to public events, join public groups and reply to messages, though you have 48 hours to reply. Is Stitch safe?
This is where Stitch stands out. Before you can communicate with others, you have to verify your account, either with a photo of you holding a unique code, or through a trusted member called a Community Champion (Stitch). You don’t need personal documents, and Stitch says it deletes verification information once you’re verified.
Stitch also says it has never had a member scammed on the platform. We can’t verify that claim, and a verified account doesn’t tell you someone’s honest, so never send money to anyone.
