Our verdict

Loosid is built for people who live alcohol-free and want to date without the pressure to drink. It has a dating app and a separate community app for recovery.

Bottom line: A thoughtful niche app; use it with Hinge (which lets you show drinking habits) for more matches.

Great for: Sober and sober-curious singles

Not ideal for: People who drink socially and don’t mind dating drinkers.

What Loosid is

This Loosid review covers two connected apps from Loosid App LLC, co-founded by MJ Gottlieb, who is in recovery himself, and Zhanna Basina. Loosid Sober Dating is the dating app. Loosid Recovery & Sober is the community app, with a sobriety tracker, daily gratitude, recovery stories, guides to living alcohol-free and a mentor called SAM. It’s on iPhone and Android.

Loosid says it’s more than a dating app. In February 2025 it reported over 310,000 members, with about 150,000 in the dating app and 160,000 in the community app (Loosid).

How the Loosid dating app works

You build a profile, including Sober Questions such as “My idea of a perfect Sober Saturday…” or “The biggest gift sobriety has given to me is…”. These save you the usual awkwardness about when to bring up not drinking. Then you match with sober singles near you and chat with your matches. You can stand out with a Flirt or SuperLike, spot secret admirers and bookmark profiles you like.

The point is simple: everyone already knows the first date won’t be at a bar. One member quoted in Loosid’s listing mentions a hike or coffee instead of drinks. Our sober dating sites ranking compares it with other options.

Who you’ll meet

People in recovery, and people who’ve simply chosen to live without alcohol or are sober curious. You don’t have to have a particular story, and you can say as much or as little about your own as you like. The pool is small compared with mainstream apps. 150,000 members spread across many places won’t go far in a small town, so see how many people are near you before you pay for anything.

What’s free on Loosid

Loosid says it’s free to use and intends to stay that way. You can create a profile, match and chat with matches at no cost. Paid plans on the dating app add extras, and SAM, the Sobriety & Addiction Mentor, is sold separately in the community app. See what Loosid costs.

Is Loosid legit and safe?

Yes, it’s a real company that’s been running since 2018. The dating app has 4.4 out of 5 from about 3,900 ratings in the US App Store, and the community app 4.7 from about 7,200 (checked November 1, 2026). Dating in recovery does bring its own risks. Someone new to sobriety can be vulnerable, and people can use shared experience to build trust quickly. Be careful with anyone who pushes you to move fast, asks for money or doesn’t respect your limits. Our romance scam guide shows the common patterns.

Loosid’s dating app includes a crisis hotline for immediate help. If you’re struggling, please use that or speak to someone you trust: dating can wait. In the US you can also call or text 988 at any time.

Loosid vs Hinge

Hinge has far more people, and you can show your drinking habits on your profile, but many of those people do drink. Loosid gives you shared understanding from the first message. See Loosid vs Hinge.

Our tip

Answer the Sober Questions in your own voice, and suggest a daytime first date, such as a walk or breakfast. You can use the community app as well, because friends who get it make dating much easier.
