What makes happn different

This happn review starts with its one big idea: it shows you people you’ve crossed paths with in real life. happn comes from a French company, HAPPN SAS, and it’s on iPhone and Android. It says it has more than 140 million users worldwide, and it reports about 1.16 million monthly active users in the EU for January to June 2025 (happn). You must be 18 or over.

Rather than a stack of people anywhere within a set distance, your main page shows people you’ve physically been near, at work, in your usual café or on the way home. How the happn dating app works

You Like someone by tapping the heart, and if they Like you back, it’s a Crush and you can chat for free (happn). CrushTime is a small game where you guess who has already Liked you.

Does happn show your location?

This is the question most people ask. happn needs your location to work, but it says your exact position isn’t shown to other users. The crossing point is approximate, and it isn’t displayed straight away (happn). A “Now” label does mean someone is close by at that moment, though the app won’t say how close.
