Steps to delete your Facebook Dating profile
- Open the Facebook app, tap the menu and go to Dating.
- Open Dating Settings and tap General.
- Tap Delete Profile and confirm with Delete.
- Note: you can’t create a new Dating profile for 7 days.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check Facebook Dating’s help center.
What deleting your Facebook Dating profile removes
When you delete your Facebook Dating profile, Facebook removes your Dating answers, likes, matches and conversations. Conversations stay in the other person’s Dating inbox, so save anything you want to keep before you go. Your main Facebook account isn’t touched, and there’s no subscription to cancel, because Dating has no paid plans.
After you delete it, you can’t create a new Dating profile for 7 days (Supplemental Facebook Dating Terms). If you only want a break, don’t delete.
Take a break instead
Dating settings include a Take a break option, which hides your profile from new people without deleting it. When you come back, your profile is ready and there’s no 7-day wait. We couldn’t find a Meta help page that explains exactly what happens to existing chats during a break, so read the on-screen note before you confirm.
Turn off notifications or Meet Cute
If what bothers you is the noise rather than the profile, open Dating settings and switch off the notifications you don’t want. Meet Cute, the weekly surprise match, can be turned off at any time.
Remove the Dating shortcut
Deleting your profile doesn’t always remove Dating from the app. To get rid of the shortcut, press and hold it and choose to hide or unpin it, or go to Settings & privacy → Settings → Preferences and customize the tab bar. The labels differ between app versions. Hiding the shortcut doesn’t hide your profile, so delete or pause the profile first.
Deleting Facebook entirely
Deleting your whole Facebook account also deletes your Dating profile. Facebook gives you 30 days to change your mind before the account and its information are permanently deleted. To see what Dating holds about you first, use Accounts Center to view or download your Facebook Dating information.

Does deleting Facebook Dating cancel my subscription?
There’s nothing to cancel, because Facebook Dating has no paid plans. Deleting your Dating profile doesn’t delete your Facebook account.
Does uninstalling Facebook Dating delete my account?
No. Removing the app from your phone leaves your profile active. You must delete the account in settings.
Can I pause Facebook Dating instead of deleting?
