Is Facebook Dating free?
Yes. Facebook Dating is free, and every feature is included: the profile, likes, matches, messages, Secret Crush, Meet Cute and the dating assistant. There are no subscriptions, no boosts, no paid likes and no in-app currency. Nothing in Dating is held back for paying members, because there are no paying members.
That didn’t change when Meta launched its Meta One subscriptions in September 2026. Those plans start at $3.99 a month for Facebook Plus and add things like Messenger customization and Reels insights, but Meta’s announcement lists no Dating features (Meta).
So what’s the catch?
You pay with your attention and your data rather than money. Dating keeps people using the Facebook app, and Meta’s Dating privacy policy says your Dating information can be used to personalize your experience on Facebook. You also need a Facebook account, which some people would rather not link to their dating life.
Limits that money can’t lift
Free doesn’t mean unlimited. Some people see a message that they’ve reached their limit after liking a lot of profiles in one day. Meta doesn’t publish the number, and there’s no way to pay to raise it; you wait until it resets. The same goes for visibility. There’s no paid boost, so any “7-day boost” offer you see is fake. Profiles that are complete and active simply get shown more.
How it compares with paid apps
On Tinder or Hinge, you can match and chat for free, but paying adds unlimited likes, a list of who liked you or extra visibility. Facebook Dating has none of those upgrades, so you never have to decide whether one is worth it. The trade-off is fewer features and a pool that varies a lot from city to city.
Watch out for fake upgrades
Because there’s nothing to buy, any page, message or match asking you to pay for Facebook Dating features, verification or “premium access” is a scam. Report it and don’t click. Meta’s Facebook Verified badge is free too.
