Step 1: Cancel your subscription
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → JDate → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → JDate → Cancel.
- Website: JDate account settings → subscription / billing.
Step 2: Delete your JDate account
- Turn off Premium renewal first.
- Go to Profile → Account Settings → Manage Account → Delete Account.
- Choose a reason and type delete.
- Confirm. JDate can’t restore a deleted account.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check JDate’s help center.
Cancel JDate Premium first
Deleting your account doesn’t stop your subscription, so turn off renewal before you do anything else (JDate).
- Bought on the website: My Profile → Account Settings → Subscription → Manage Subscription. Choose your plan, then Cancel Subscription, pick a reason and Confirm Cancellation.
- Bought on an iPhone: cancel in your Apple account settings. You don’t need the app installed.
- Bought on Android: cancel in your Google Play account.
You keep Premium until the current period ends. JDate says all purchases are final and non-refundable, renewals included.
What happens when you delete
Your profile, matches and messages are removed for good, and JDate can’t restore them. If you come back, you’ll start again with a new account. Removing the app from your phone does nothing to your account.
JDate has no pause or hide setting
JDate confirms there’s no way to pause, hide or deactivate an account, and no setting to appear offline (JDate). So if you’ve met someone and want to come off the site, deleting is the only way to disappear.
For a short break, the nearest thing is to switch off your notifications and stop signing in. Your profile stays up and people can still find it, so this suits a holiday better than a new relationship.
Before you delete
- Swap numbers with anyone you’d like to stay in touch with, because your chats go too.
- Check that renewal is really off, in the place where you bought Premium.
JDate customer service
Chat is the quickest route, using the Chat link at the bottom of the help center. You can also use the contact form with the email on your account.
