Step 1: Cancel your subscription
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Grindr → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Grindr → Cancel.
- Website: Grindr account settings → subscription / billing.
Step 2: Delete your Grindr account
- On iPhone, tap your profile, then Settings, and scroll to the bottom. On Android, tap your profile, then Settings → Deactivate.
- Tap Delete Profile (iPhone) or Delete Account (Android).
- Give a reason and verify your email if you signed up with one.
- Tap Delete Profile. You may need to type DELETE.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check Grindr’s help center.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your Grindr profile or removing the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. You have to cancel it through your app store (Grindr):
- iPhone: App Store → your profile icon → Subscriptions → Grindr → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → Account → Subscriptions → Grindr → Cancel.
You keep your paid features until the end of the current billing period. Grindr says all purchases are final and non-refundable. Apple and Google handle any refund requests themselves.
How to delete Grindr on Android
The steps differ slightly from iPhone:
- Tap your profile, then the Settings icon at the top left.
- Tap Deactivate, then Delete Account.
- Choose a reason, and add feedback if you like.
- Verify your email address, if you signed up with email and a password.
- Tap Delete Profile. You may need to type DELETE to confirm.
What you lose
Deleting is permanent, and a deleted profile can’t be recovered. Your personal information is removed under Grindr’s privacy policy, and your chats and data won’t come back. You can create a new profile with the same login details later. If you’re a paid user, you can restore your purchase on the new account.
To keep a copy of your data first, use the data download option through Grindr Web or follow Grindr’s guide to accessing your personal data.
If you only want to step back
Removing the app doesn’t delete your profile, so people can still see you. To be less visible without deleting, you can turn off Show Distance and opt out of Explore under Settings → Show Me. Incognito, on Unlimited, hides you from the Grid and shows you as offline.
