Step 1: Cancel your subscription
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel.
- Website: Upward account settings → subscription / billing.
Step 2: Delete your Upward account
- Cancel Premium or Elite in the App Store or Google Play first.
- Tap the profile icon in the top right.
- Tap the gear icon to open settings.
- Scroll down, tap Delete and confirm.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check Upward’s help centre.
Deleting your Upward account
Deleting the app from your phone does not delete your account — you need to do it in settings.
Step 1: cancel Premium or Elite
Cancel in the App Store or Google Play first; deleting your account does not stop a store subscription.
Step 2: delete the account
- Open Upward and tap the profile icon in the top right.
- Tap the gear icon to open settings.
- Scroll down and tap Delete.
- Confirm.
Deleting removes your connections, and your conversations cannot be restored afterwards.
A break instead of deleting
If you have started seeing someone and want to give it time, you do not have to delete. Stop swiping, turn off notifications and leave your profile as it is. If things work out, you can delete together later; if not, you have not lost your profile and matches.
Before you go
- Exchange contact details with anyone you want to keep in touch with.
- Remember that your faith statement and prompts will need rewriting if you return with a new account.
- Report any member who behaved inappropriately — it helps keep the community safe for others.
