Step 1: Cancel your subscription
- iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel.
- Website: Upward account settings → subscription / billing.
Step 2: Delete your Upward account
- Cancel Premium, Elite or Platinum in the App Store or Google Play first.
- Tap the profile icon in the top right.
- Tap the gear icon to open settings.
- Scroll all the way down, tap Delete and confirm.
Menu names can change after app updates. If you can’t find an option, check Upward’s help center.
Cancel your subscription first
Deleting your account doesn’t tell Apple or Google to stop billing you. Turn off renewal before you delete (Upward):
- iPhone: Settings → your Apple ID → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Google Play → profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Upward → Cancel.
- In the app: profile icon → gear icon → Manage Subscription, then follow the steps.
You keep your paid features until the expiration date, and then your account goes back to free.
What deleting removes
Deleting your account removes all your connections, and you can’t get your conversations back. Removing the app from your phone doesn’t delete the account, so do both if you’re leaving.
Hide your profile instead
If you’ve met someone or just want a break, turn off “Show me on Upward”. Go to your profile icon → gear icon, scroll down to the toggle and turn it off, then tap Done. Your profile won’t appear in the discover stack, and you can turn it back on at any time. Upward suggests doing this only during a break, because hiding reduces your chances of a match.

- Swap numbers with anyone you want to stay in touch with.
- If you’d like a copy of your data, request it first through Upward’s help center.
- If you turned on Expanded Discovery, your profile may also have been shown on other Match Group services. It’s worth turning this off even if you only hide your profile: Settings → Your Privacy Choices → Match Group Data Sharing.
Upward customer service
Use the email form in Upward’s help center. Upward says it doesn’t have a customer support phone number and warns that numbers posted on other websites are fake. It will never ask for your login details.
